A message from the principal

Welcome to Black Hawk, where we have such amazing staff and students.  Black Hawk is a school that is hidden in a beautiful neighborhood and is very close to Crapo Park.  In fact, from our huge playground area you can see the park and many times classes will walk there to explore.

Our staff at Black Hawk are focused on helping each and every student succeed in life.  They pour into each student’s life by first building relationships because we believe that this is the foundation for any student to be successful in learning. We believe firmly in Professional Learning Communities, because it takes multiple people to touch the life of a child.  Teachers meet  regularly as a grade level team so that they can analyze data so that they can find new ways to grow and teach. When you walk into Black Hawk, you will see every adult participating in Morning Meetings with our students.  Morning Meetings allow students and staff to greet each other, share about their days, and to set goals for the day.

We welcome you to come and check out our amazing staff and students who are all striving everyday to be better Grayhounds!

Mission

Inspiring and challenging students through diverse opportunities.

Vision

The Burlington Community School District strives to have a profoundly positive impact on each student’s adult quality of life brought about by the students’ individual and collective educational experience.

Exit Outcomes

The Burlington Community School District supports all students achieving skills and abilities to become productive citizens in the community in which they live. This includes academic goals, social competencies, employability skills, and technology skills. These skills are a guide for teachers and students in determining projects and areas of focus at various grade levels.
